The coconut palm is the most valuable crop in Sri Lanka’s coastal area. Coconuts are traditionally harvested by climbing the tree. In this demonstration, you will participate in husking the coconut, scraping the meat, and experience the preparation of the wellknown Sri Lankan dish the ‘coconut sambal’. This is demonstrated in the traditional Sri Lankan kitchen by the women of the village.
